On April 17, 2026, we teamed up with the Student Council of the Faculty of Tourism at Udayana University for a clean-up at Mangrove Last Point Pemogan in Denpasar.
A Record Day
Eighty people turned out, most of them students, and together they collected 498 kilograms of trash. That is the largest single haul since the Bali Lebih Bersih initiative began in September 2025 — and it came out of a mangrove area, where waste lodges in the roots and stays there until someone pulls it out by hand.
What Numbers Like This Are For
Half a tonne in one morning is worth celebrating, but it is also a measure of how much accumulates when no one is looking. With this many people involved, the day did double duty: it cleared the site, and it showed eighty future tourism professionals exactly what unmanaged waste looks like up close.
