In the third week of January 2026, the OceanHero crew headed down to Kelan Beach in Badung for a much-needed cleanup. It wasn’t just about picking up trash; it was about bringing the local community together to take a stand for our coastline.

A Team Effort

We had an incredible group of 23 volunteers show up, ready to get their hands dirty. They spent the morning scouring the shoreline and the surrounding areas, working side-by-side to clear out whatever didn't belong on the sand.

The Results

The hard work definitely paid off. By the time we finished, we had collected a staggering 178 kilograms of trash. It’s a bit of a wake-up call to see that much waste in one spot, but it felt great knowing that all that plastic and debris was headed to a proper facility instead of washing out into the ocean.

Why We Do It

Every piece of plastic we removed is one less hazard for marine life. Beyond just making the beach look better for everyone, these cleanups are vital for protecting the local ecosystem. It’s a direct way to keep Bali’s waters healthy and thriving.

The Bigger Picture

Events like this are a perfect reminder of how much of a difference a small, committed group can make. It’s not just about the trash we pick up today—it’s about building a community that cares enough to keep our beaches clean for the long haul.
