On Sunday, July 19, 2026, we took the clean-up inland and uphill, to Batur Sunrise Point on Mount Batur in Bangli.
Nine People, Five Hours
A crew of 9 volunteers worked the area for five hours and came away with 76 kg of trash. It is a smaller team and a longer day than a beach clean-up, which is the nature of the terrain — you cover ground slowly up there.
Not Only the Coast
Batur is one of the most visited sunrise spots in Bali, and the waste that accumulates at a viewpoint is left by people who came specifically to admire it. Cleaning it is a reminder that protecting the island's natural places is not only a coastal job. Even a small group, working steadily, makes a visible difference to a place thousands of people will see.
