We spent some time at the Lentera Anak Bali Orphanage in Denpasar as part of the "Bali Lebih Bersih" campaign. A crew of 19 volunteers joined us to hang out with 30 kids, ranging from the little ones in kindergarten all the way up to junior high.
Talking Trash (The Good Kind)
Instead of just giving a long speech, we spent a couple of hours chatting with the kids about what all this trash is actually doing to our island. Since we had everyone from little toddlers to teenagers in the room, we kept things pretty simple so nobody felt left out. The goal wasn’t to lecture them, but to help them see for themselves how much better everything looks when we actually take care of our waste.

Creative Mini Campaigns
Instead of just sitting there listening, the kids got stuck into making their own mini-campaigns. We gave them some A3 paper and let them go wild with their own ideas on how to fix the waste problem. It was cool to see what they came up with, and honestly, some of their posters were more convincing than the stuff adults make.

Engaging and Interactive Learning
The whole point was to mix the serious stuff with a bit of play and a lot of drawing. When you make it a hands-on thing, the kids actually stay tuned in and want to participate. We left the session feeling like they didn't just hear us, but they actually got it.
