On December 6, 2025, the OceanHero crew headed over to Sekolah Torrevieja in Tabanan for a day that was less about textbooks and more about real life. With 26 volunteers leading the charge—mostly students themselves—we sat down with 88 kids to talk about a topic that usually puts people to sleep: trash.

Breaking Down the Bin

The idea was to make waste management actually make sense for once. We didn't just stand there and lecture; we broke it down into simple bits—organic, inorganic, and those annoying leftovers that don't fit anywhere else. To be fair, you can't really expect a kid to lose sleep over a landfill. But once they saw how to sort their own lunch scraps, the whole concept finally started to stick.

Turning Junk into Art

And here’s the thing: we didn't want the lesson to end with a trash bin. To keep things interesting, the kids got their hands on some clean plastic waste and turned it into actual art. We’re talking picture frames and decorations made from stuff that was headed for the dump. It’s one thing to hear about "reusing" materials, but it’s another thing entirely to build something cool out of an old bottle.

Wrapping Up

By the time we finished, the energy was still high. We handed out snacks to everyone as a quick thank you for staying locked in and actually participating. It was a small gesture, but after a morning of rethinking how they treat their environment, the kids definitely earned it.
