On Sunday, June 21, 2026, Bali Lebih Bersih, the environmental campaign started by OceanHero, hosted OceanHe-Run at Amed Beach in Karangasem — a running event built around doing something for the coastline you are running along.
A 5K That Picks Up After Itself
This was not a conventional race. OceanHe-Run was a 5K plogging run: participants ran the route and collected waste as they went. The format asks something more than a finish time, and it turns a morning of exercise into a stretch of coastline that is measurably cleaner by the end of it.
80 Runners, 439 Kilograms
80 participants turned out, and along those five kilometres they collected 439 kilograms of waste. That is the heaviest single-event haul we have recorded this year, gathered by people who were, technically, out for a run.
Why It Works
OceanHe-Run made the case that small collective actions add up to something real. Putting sport, community and environmental awareness in the same morning reaches people who might never sign up for a clean-up on its own — and that is exactly the point.
