On December 13, 2025, OceanHero held an educational session at SMPN 6 Singaraja in Buleleng during its first visit to the regency. The activity was supported by 20 volunteers and attended by 80 students, most of them in the 9th grade.

Understanding the Impact of Waste

The whole point of the session wasn't to throw big, scary statistics at them. Instead, the focus was on the "why" behind the mess they see every day. In urban spots like Singaraja, the trash problem isn't some abstract theory, it’s right there on the street corner. To be fair, kids aren't going to care about a global crisis unless you show them how it’s currently messing with their own neighborhood. We used practical, boots-on-the-ground examples to bridge that gap between "environmentalism" and their actual daily lives.

Small Group Discussions

The whole "Small Group Discussion" setup wasn't just a fancy teaching tactic. It was about giving these kids the space to vent their own perspectives. By the time the session wrapped, they weren't just "aware" of the environment; they were invested in it. It’s one thing to hear a volunteer explain a problem, but it’s another thing entirely to stand up and pitch your own idea. If we want a generation that actually takes charge, we have to let them speak first.
