On November 15, 2025, we returned to SDN 2 Ketewel in Gianyar for our third session there. With the support of 15 volunteers, we spent the day working with 140 students from grades 4 to 6.

Turning Bottles into Banks

Instead of just lecturing about recycling, we figured it was better to let the kids get their hands on the problem. We took used plastic bottles and turned them into simple coin banks. It’s a small thing, but it makes the whole idea of "reusing" feel real. Suddenly, a piece of trash isn't just junk it’s something they can actually use to save up their spare change.

The "Aha!" Moment

And here’s the thing: as they were cutting and decorating, the conversation about why this matters started to happen naturally. You don't need a textbook when you’re seeing the transformation happen right in front of you. To be fair, it’s the easiest way to show that plastic doesn’t always have to end up in a ditch; with a little bit of effort, it can have a second life.

A Job Well Done

We wrapped things up by making sure the kids knew they did a great job. It wasn’t just about making a craft, it was about showing them that their participation counts. Small moves like this are how you start building a real environmental habit.
